I am working with photometric data obtained using B and V filters. I have successfully determined the apparent magnitudes mBm_BmB and mVm_VmV, as well as the B−VB-VB−V color index, which allowed me to estimate the stars' temperatures.

Now, I am looking to calculate the absolute magnitudes MMM of these stars to eventually determine their distances. I understand that additional parameters, such as extinction and luminosity class, might come into play.

Are there established relationships or methods in photometry that link the B−VB-VB−V index and the absolute magnitude? Could I directly use the temperature or another derived parameter in conjunction with the apparent magnitude to find MMM? Any guidance or references to resources for this calculation would be greatly appreciated.
