I have pclamp paradigms that were originally designed for use with the axopatch 200b. However I just started using a new rig that has a multiclamp 700b. Is there a way to convert the paradigms so that they will recognize the 700b amplifier. Moreover, is there a way to convert the settings that I used from the 200b to the 700b?
It took me some time to realize this, but PClamp is set up so that what you do in the protocol editor to specify waveforms is independent of the amplifier you use. The key is to configure your inputs/outputs in lab bench with the correct scale factors. The beauty of the MultiClamp is that it is telegraphed and you can change scaling on the fly through the commander after you configure telegraphed instruments in PClamp, pretty much avoiding lab bench altogether.
So, if your protocol waveform specifies the actual values of, e.g., the current step, that you want to see, go to a new amplifier, set the scale factors in lab bench or configure telegraphed instruments for that amplifier. Then you're good to go.
I'm sure there are exceptions to this, but in principle, I believe this is why the protocol editor and lab bench are partitioned as they are. Therefore, no conversion of protocols is required.
