I need the migration depth of Nitrofurantoin in soil, to formulate exposure scenarios for crops. I haven't been able to find any research that has done this, as it appears not a lot is known about this antibiotic. I was wondering if there was a way I could reasonably estimate this?
If there is a local company that extracts and analyses organic contaminants in soil, you could ask them to recommend an extraction method. The extraction is probably more important than the analytical method, which may be quite standard by GC or LC (don't know the molecule in question). The longer the molecule has been in soil the more likely it will be a "bound residue", and harder to extract. Using a standard extraction protocol approved by the environment agency in your country would add regulatory legitimacy to your work.
