Treatment with antiviral like REMDESIVIR is well accepted in USA and other few countries. Actually, all are in trial phase like vaccine. Controversy and confusion are there. According to the WHO, there are currently no drugs approved for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19. Several trials are underway, but there is no evidence at this stage that hydroxychloroquine or any other drug can prevent or cure COVID-19.

Furthermore, according to the WHO, the misuse of hydroxychloroquine can lead to serious side effects and illness or even death.

However, most people who contract COVID-19 have mild or moderate symptoms and can be cured with supportive treatment.

There is currently no approved drugs or combination of drugs that have been clinically approved for the treatment of COVID-19, however there have been very strong claims of the successful use of a combination of hydroxychloroquine,zinc and zitronax in treating hundreds of patients (even those with other underlying health challenges). There are also accusations of big pharmaceutical companies playing politics with these treatment inorder to profit from it. Who is telling the truth, time will tell. But, if any kind of treatment can or is saving life, I see no reasons to allow people to keep dying.

To date, there is no cure for covid19 because the molecular mechanisms that the virus implements to promote its replication and above all their influence on human metabolism and its antiviral defenses are not known. Today we buffer the symptoms of the disease trying to save as many patients as possible. The therapeutic interventions (dexamethasone, heparin, and antibiotics) in the first moments of the infection (first week) are the ones that are giving the best results. Unfortunately, many of the patients who have recovered, regardless of the severity of the disease, will experience acute and chronic, even very serious, effects for the rest of their lives.

The virus has a trick to evade the initial immune response that we do not understand.

If there is to be a "magic bullet" to cure COVID I believe it is likely to be something that acts directly on the virus or on the immune system very early in the infection, about 2 weeks before the patient arrives in hospital. As worldwide testing capability ramps up trials of treatments applied at (or even before) the moment of first diagnosis become of great interest. Unfortunately the biochemical mechanism is not well understood, so the choice of drugs to try is not clear, and these trials appear to be difficult to carry out in a controlled way.

It is also clear there is some feature of a small, generally old, proportion of the population that makes them much more susceptible. Existing studies have found a host of risk factors, but in my opinion the stark differences in the disease severity between cases suggests there is a much simpler underlying factor that we have not yet discovered.
