After filtering the water, the particles on the filter paper are measured by FT-IR.
Concentration measurements depend on the sampling symmetry, and some are normalized.
Generally, it is evaluated by the amount of water sampled and the number of particles detected. The number of particles can be automatically counted by FT-IR.

You can also use a Raman spectrophotometer in place of FTIR. Raman spectrophotometers have more advantages than FTIR.
1. More sensitive
2. you can enhance the intensity by tuning the laser.
3. Minimum sample amount needed.
