I'm trying to electrophoretically deposit nanoparticles on one of two band electrodes. After applying DC voltage, my negatively charged nanoparticles deposit only on the edge of the anode and I want them to deposit on the whole surface of the electrode. Is there a way to do that?
Yes, cover the edges of the electrode with an insulating coating, epoxy, varnish for example to avoid the higher overpotential you have in the edges.
You can also stir your solution. You should still cover the edges as F. Caballero-Briones mentioned, but in addition if you stir your solution you will arrive at a more uniform result. I've electrodeposited lithium metal very successfully by spinning the substrate in the electrolyte, whereas without stirring the deposition is very non-uniform.

@Brian - do you know what is the influence of mixing on electrophoretic deposition? I mean, I suppose it enhances, but are there any kinetic equations?
@Andre-Pierre - nope, I'm using ethanol, so that I don't have oxygen and hydrogen evolution on the surface of the electrodes.

Do you know which factors can inhibit the deposition process in an electrophoretic setup? I mean a complete inhibition, no deposition.
