Concerning use in the UK and EU, with dominant UK/EU sourcing and some international sourcing.

If there was a market for utilising wheat straw and oilseed rape straw wastes for the use of energy production, would it work along side the food industry and prevent the issues we have all discussed in such depth?

I am focusing on the possibilities of a hydrogen market, but for this to be viable the primary uses of these wastes need to be less profitable than the potential for use in hydrogen production.

In the UK and EU, wheat straw is used primarily for animal feed and bedding.

Oilseed rape straw has no value, so this route is already viable.

Palm oil empty fruit bunches, fibres &shells are used for electricity/stream production on site and cake from the pressed fruit is sold on for use in animal feed.

If there are any other uses, I would be grateful for your contribution.

For research purposes, please reference sources where you can (preferably messaging them to me) rather than just stating opinions, (but opinions are still welcome so long as you say it is).

Thank you.
