When you write an article, is there a limit number of references need to determine or there is no limit yet? for example, 5, 10 or less/ more than 10 references.

I have never have heard anything about this. But the important thing is that your reference is a natural part of your argument and serves a function. If it does not, people will ask why it is there, and conclude that it is names dropping.
When I studied literature I was exposed to many academics (not in person of course!), who although they were prodigious and respected scholoars, wrote in such a way that their texts became difficult to understand.
Gillian Beer wrote a book Called Darwin's Plots, which refers to so many people, and has so many textual references and sources that students struggle. The same is strue of Walter Houghton's Victorian Frame of Mind and Arthur Lovejoy's Great Chain of Being. It is also true of Jung and some psychoanalysts.
The problem is that their sentences cannot be understood without familiarity with all of the names in the references. And very few will have such an extensive range of familiarity as these writers.
I haven't read or received any instruction from any journal which I published in, that they need a specific number of references. However, any researcher should cite results and/ or ideas from other researchers to confirm his result or conclusion. Some new or very original articles you can't find direct references for, while conventional articles you my find 150 and more references, and in Reveiw articles you may see overv300 references.Cheers.
