The XPS spectra of 3d Ag exhibit two characteristic peaks at binding energies around 367 eV and 373 eV. However, it also reveals two small satellite peaks near these characteristic peaks. Is the origin of these peaks known?
Jürgen Weippert Thank you! In my PhD I worked on theoretical features of photoemission in metals. In this work, a small satellite peak is expected near the characteristic peaks. I found these candidate peaks in the Ag 3d spectra. Now, I'm investigating whether these satellite peaks have an understood physical process behind them. I'm also searching for other satellite peaks similar to these in Ag/Au. Do you know of any other materials that these satellite peaks appear near the main peak?
