We are looking for an anti-GAL4 antibody that works on methanol fixed Drosophila embryos, or at the minimum any Drosophila tissue. Most people are citing a Santa Cruz antibody at 1:100 but no details like catalog number, etc.
We want to be able to assay the expression of a broad range of our embryonic neural GAL4 lines independently of a UAS reporter. Pan-neuronal: elav, sca etc. More restricted: eg, ftz, conn and others.
Tim Mosca from Stanford has answered this on Twitter: "we tried a while back to find good gal4 abs. tested all of SC, few other sources, alas, no luck."

I'm also desperately searching for a good antibody to use to stain for Gal4 in drosophila embryos. Can anyone else suggest something? Has anyone used it in embryos?
