I have XRD files which are from an XRD broker-D8 instrument and their file format is.raw . I want to analyse the peaks to find the phases and find out the (hkl) of the peaks.
Is there a free reliable XRD pattern analyzing software that one can use at home and install on a laptop?
But FullProf (a terrific program and free) will not provide search-match capabilities. FullProf does include some indexing programs, but I don't believe that is what Taher is looking for in order to "find the phases". GSAS/GSAS II is also free, but again no search-match.
I think that for searching crystaline phases the most appropriate sofware is
PFD-2 or PDF-4 at http://www.icdd.com/resources/Tutorials/. i think that at the University of Leeds somebody in the diffraction lab will have this sotware.
@Jesus - You are correct that ICDD's PDF-2 and PDF-4 are crystal structure databases that are used by search-match software. However, they are not free. The only free database I know of is the COD at www.crystallography.net
Even given a database, you need search-match software, and I don't know of a free option for this.
@Voilker - thanks for posting this link. It is an excellent site (probably nothing there to answer Taher's question, but lots of very useful stuff here). I have bookmarked it on my web browser.
If you have inorganic compounds or minerals and an idea of the possible phases present in your pattern the MAUD software is also quite good :

Another option you can use is XPowder, which you can use as a trial and can install free databases that you can obtain from the XPowder web. It has the search-match option and a manual in english, It's very user friendly.

I started using MAUD few years back. With its very helpful video tutorials , even a newbee like me could do quantitative phase analysis and Rietveld refinement ! I strongly recommend the video tutorials since, you even get a visual experience how the manual+automatic fitting converges from the excellent video tutorial by Prof. Luca Lutterotti. Now I use Highscoreplus (not free) too. My earlier experience with MAUD has helped me a lot in working with Highscoreplus.

The problem of using match! and qualx is strange incomplete inorganic database. With my powder sample of YCrO3, measured on Rigaku XRD search match result with this two programs was DyCrO3 and there is no YCrO3 in databases
Thank you! I 've just solved my problem by manual adding to MATCH! database cif files of YCrO3 from ICSD server. But anyway if even I have full version of Match! it seems to me database will be not complete for my purposes. It must have data for all rare-earth chromates
Match 3 is an amazing program however it is valid for only 60 days and for paid off version is actually expensive 50€ for 3 month and personal use
Daniel Manaye Kabtamu Jade and Eva are great programs, but you cannot just download them. They are commercial software and require a license.
You can use Checkcell program, absolutely free and easy to use. Just plot the diffraction data with plotting software like WinPlotr, index the peaks (you can also use the auto peak find option in build, gives you the list of the peaks), infer some initial space group and match the peaks tweaking the cell parameters and angles. There are options of refinement too.
Also you can use software like Fullprof, rietan-2000, GSAS for further analysis. All of these are free.

Jamal M. Rzaij MAUD is good, and free. But it does not do search-match or indexing, so may not meet the needs of the original posting.
