Could anybody suggest dye that changes colour in contact with bacteria or pus?
Alamar Blue would change with incubation with live bacterial cells, demonstrating metabolic activity from blue to red.
tetrazolium dye can also used as it changes color when comes in contact of live bacteria

Well, for Pseudomonas aeruginosa I used coomassie for quantification of cells. Most likely also other bacterial cells can be stained by this method: 1) Incubation of cells with coomassie; 2) washing of cells with buffer to get rid of unbound coomassie; 3) elute bound coomassie by incubation with ethanol or acetic acid. Please see link attached. So finally it does not change colour but as I do not know exactly what you intend to do, this option might be helpful as well.

You could try the gram staining method, which would also differentiate bacteria from one another easily.
The dyes used are crystal violet, iodine and safranin.
