Is there a difference between SCI compendex and SCI in journal indexing?
Do you mean Ei Compendex? If so, yes, there is a big difference. Ei Compendex is an Engineering literature database. It indexes journals, conference proceedings, and book series only from the Engineering field. The database belongs to Elsevier at present. SCI is a part of Web of Science (a multidisciplinary bibliographic database). This belongs to Clarivate Analytics at present.

I have never come across the term SCI Compendex, however if you mean Ei Compendex (COMPuterized ENgineering inDEX ), that's definitely different from SCI (Science Citation Index). The former indexes journals, conferences, and other trade publications related to engineering domain, while the latter is multidisciplinary and indexes only significant journals in about 150 disciplines.
I think the questioner wants to know the difference between SCI and SCIE(SCI Expanded). SCI refers to more than 3700 journals from SCI Compact Disc Edition (SCI CDE). SCI-E (SCI Expanded) is an extended of SCI, which contains more than 5600 source journals and can be retrieved through international online.
