My daughter is doing a remodeling project and is concerned about silica dust in ceramic tile/grout work for their new baby. What are the risks and what precautions should she take? In researching the web, it seems it's more for the workers than the homeowner. Is this true? Is a small amount of exposure ok? Thanks for your help!

when buying any chemical and dealing with them the user should have a look at the 'material safety data sheet' ( MSDS) of that material.
If you havn't got one, so please 'google' for that MSDS.
There you will find risks and precautions that should be taken.
With respect to the baby:
keep the child out of the dust at all. Keep its very young growing lung free from any dust.
I agree with Gerhard Martens. We know that adults and children react to different things in a completely different way similarly with the dosage of the drug or being resistant to viruses, bacteria or chemicals, therefore it is best to avoid direct contact...
Prevention is better than cure.
