I am working wth B. subtilis and I would like to know if there is a B. subtilis strain that is a aiiA gene knockout, or a good protocol I could use to perform it. Thanks a lot.
If you know which gene it is in Bacillus subtilis 168 there should be a knockout mutant available form the BGSC - http://www.bgsc.org/ - they will supply the strain free of charge to accademic users or for a small fee.
I do not see a match or a good homolog, but the sequence I found was for a Bacillus species and not subtilis - so I am not sure how good a match to expect.
