Im about to analyse a organic powder using the XRF analysis method (using the machine PANalytical xrf epsilon 3 ) .
The powder is contaminated with heavy metals (Pb+Cd) .
The powder is supposed to absorbe the pollutants in its cavities .(Biosorption)
The powder is exctracted and filtred after being in the contaminated solution under agitation for 3Hours.
Does the XRF method give reliable results ?

as far as you search for medium to high atomic number contaminants XRF is a very reliable method.
Especially when the matrix is composed of low atomic number elements, such as organic material in your case, there is a quite low attenuation of the exciting x-rays as well as the fluorescence radiation in the sample, making the XRF method very effective.
You can trust the results.

I was sceptical about it since im adding very low qunatity of the pollutant (Trace elements) , so im going to trust the result now!

In principle, it is possible, the result will be burdened with a fairly large error given by this method. For example, ICP-MS with previous mineralization of the sample, is the better method.
