I'm planning a new a fear conditioning study. So far I have a MP150 system with the EDA100CMRI and the STM100/ISOC for electrical stimulation and only one computer. Would it be possible using a single computer and not using the STP100C?
No, I NEVER recommend you to present stimulus and receive physiological response in one system, even though it's very powerful one. You need at least two computers.
Using STP100C is not only convenient, but safe (it's opto-isolated device).
If you use Psychopy, you can labjack directly to UIM100C, IF you use Superlab, you can use NI USB6501 and connect it to UIM100C.
It will save you about $400, but it's not safe. Surge or other electrical issue will mass your whole system.
It's more tricky in MRI environment.
If your MRI device have properly isolated trigger output (ONLY 5V is possible!), ask the engineer whether it is possible to connected the output to digital channel of your UIM100C. (However, most of MRI output trigger is BNC and it's fit to STP100C. You have to make additional converting-connector to connect it to UIM100C).
As another Biopac user, I recommend you to get STP100C rather than time-consuming work-through.
June Kang, I'll probably use psychopy from a MacBook Pro to send the stimuli to the UIM100C. Would you happen to know which computer port and what cable should I use?
Yes, I'll use the laptop on batery when the subject is connected to the system until I have funds to buy the STP...
As the macbook doesn't have neither parallel nor serial ports, I suppose LabJack will be necessary even to connect with the STP through USB, is that correct?
I know this is an old thread, but maybe you guys can help me.
Ever since the last discussion I’ve been using superlab -> stimtracker -> biopac succesfully. Now i have a new experiment that superlab does not support, but i have it running on psychopy, so I’ll have to connect it to biopac through jabjack u3 -> stp100c. I already have both hardwares, but dont know how to make the connection in more details, like the cables i have to use, channels of each hardwares I have to connect etc. Would someone help me with this? Any suggestions, tutorials etc are welcome!
