We do need to rethink our educational system in Serbia. We must bring better quality products - graduates to work, not to search for a job. As you have suggested dear @Sudev, inculcating good and progressive values, ethics principles, morality, honesty... is a MUST! It will produce better society members, responsible one.

This is a good question with a number of possible answers, depending on the educational system of a particular region.

In addition to the incisive answers already given, it does help to consider educational systems that are considered good.   For example,

Primary education in most large cities in India deserves a high ranking.   Children in India start their primary education at age 3.   Typically, at least 3 languages are taught, namely, language of the state, Hindi and English.   A very good grounding in mathematics and science is also typical in Indian primary curricula.

University education in China, India, western and eastern Europe, the UK, and North America deserve high ranking.   In the older cultures such as the rich cultural heritage of Italy, one can find strong vestiges of the Arts (including Philosophy) as well as a good grounding in Mathematics and Science.

All in all, education gets a mixed review for systems in countries struggling to make ends meet and to overcome the vestiges regional conflicts that tend to shred the fabric of society and tend to undermine educational systems.

These studies traced the imbroglio to curricular inadequacy. It is good to say that the relevant regulatory body on health information management saw it necessary to review the curriculum and has since perfected this.

Good answers and perspectives are given already. Education is meant to change behaviors of individuals to a positive impact. Although the education systems are different from country to country with similar purposes and visions but in most cases what change behaviors of citizens are the political and economic conditions of societies not education. In contemporary societies therefore education becomes a tool or skill needed to navigate the complex and chaotic socio political and economic structures in which deceptions and unethical behaviors are rampant and common to make a living and excel. 

Therefore  the education system of countries should be amended to fix what is not working  on establishing descent and reasonable social members where ethics, social values are equally if not more important for some one to excel in society.

In my view, the current education system shows positive and negative qualities of a state. How's our education so is the society as a whole.this system require continuous changes in order to maintain modern needed values.as mentioned above by Dr.Marković G. Đoko

Students are connected to the Internet everywhere except in school. Regardless of their income bracket, most kids carry around a world of information in their pockets on their mobile devices, and yet we force them to power down and disconnect, and we confine them in obsolete computer labs

I believe that most of us learn moral values within our families and our religious communities.  But at school we have moral as a subject as well as teachings of the Muslim religion to Muslim students.

From all these avenues of learning, students may get HEAD KNOWLEDGE, and may not get heart knowledge.  It's the same whether the education is from the school or the home.  I think that we need to see people living out their moral or religious values in sincerity, although none of us achieve perfection.  I wonder if there is any system that is capable of ensuring that morals and values are parallel to head knowledge.  Having said that we must do our best to practice what we preach.  Our lives as teachers are being observed by students, children and by those around us.

If progressive thoughts generated by our education system are positively contributed to the development model we must not confronted with climate change and global warming. Progressive thoughts are drifting away from the nature. Our value systems are also support to neglect natural balance of ecosystems and their services. As an example we tend to add higher social values to our home gardens by increasing the number of invasive plants considering only the beauty of it and neglect biodiversity. Consumerism has become the culture and education system is supporting it by directing research and development work to support the consumerism not the nature and natural balance. We as human beings gradually drifting away from the nature compared to other living beings. Even though we believe our progressive thoughts we are unable to define human habitat and its sustainability.

1) I think education is not only about learning and gaining knowledge. It is also about moral values and ethics that very individual should know.

2) Education is not something that helps to get some job, it should also give some mental support to students. Most of the students attempt suicides because they don't get good marks or good rank or job, is this what our education system teaching, to commit suicide if you don't succeed in life?

3) Now-a-days teachers are least bothered about students they just work for their monthly salaries. Teachers play major part in shaping students behaviour and their future, unfortunately teachers lack in their values.

4) As-usual, there are no proper labs no practical working in most of the school's and colleges.

5) Reservation is another important criteria in our education system which fails to get capable students into their dream universities.

In the present system of its progressive orientation cannot be ruled out totally. It is the system, which has enhanced innovation. progression and development. Yes in some cases these issues could be skewed but it does not mean that the present system has become outdated in to-to. Rather the system require certain modifications and  up-dation to infuse values and culture to our society. In fact due to globalization phenomenon, the cultural exchange between the society has not been taken in right spirit and the same require to be absorbed with our own value system and cultural heritages.          

Both --- the current education system and students/stakeholders need correction and improvement.

The current education system needs to be modified and updated according to changing in society, business, and environment.

Students/stakeholders are loosing values, ethos, and coping others without verifying the utility. Even students are serious enough to take advantage of formal education.

For getting best results, education system must match with changing environment and changing priority of society and students.

Since the 90-s the educational system has been reforming. It has suffered a lot of changes. Sergey Rukshin, Mathematician and mentor of G.Perelman and S.Smirnov, Prof.of RSPU after Gertsen and vice-director of Physico-mathematical Lyceum discussed the problems of reforming, 1 of March,2015. "The years of the continuous reforms brought our education to the brink of collapse.Education is transforming to a service.We are losing the meaning of education and its social function.There is an absence of personal teacher's influence on students.The profession of a teacher is formalized. In the reform there are financial interests of some circles. Students mustn't be taught on instructions. In the 90-s salaries were low, but the teachers' hands were not tied. I think that the current education system is good somewhat. Although there is some of anti-social activities like burglary, cheating and terrorism. Because these unacceptable activities carry out from a limited number of people who may suffer from psychiatric illness or revenge.

And they may not associate or relate to the educational system. But we must be taken into account these abnormal activities to eliminate them.

When I was a kid in the elementary school (1958-1964), I used to walk daily near a secondary school in my way from home & backward. My school mates, I, and the society used to give high regards to the teachers & students of that high school simply because it was a distinguished place containing impressive persons. At present, high schools & even universities have declined to the level of the society. Therefore, it is difficult for an educational entity to impart progress to the society since both have the same "height". In science, water in container A will not move to container B if both containers are at the same level. We have to change the laws of potential energy to do that!
