I have done beta gal assay in mcf10 A cell line. I am not familiar with the result. Would you please let me the know that whether the uploaded cell image are showing senescence or not?
Beta gal activity is considered as a hallmark of senescence. The enzyme activity is significantly amplified in senescent cells due to increased lysosomal content. Morphologically, senescent cells become flat, enlarged and vacuolized and sometimes appear with multiple or enlarged nuclei. Senescent cells also form cytoplasmic bridges that allow them to signal to the neighbouring cells via direct intercellular protein transfer.
