I work on cancer for more than 20 years i did not find any kind of specific mechanism behind converting normal cell to cancer cell. DNA damage is the only reason and that normally in eldery cells because the elevated toxic materials and un efficient excreting process for toxics which lead to cancer or apoptosis, death processes.
Actually I not expert in cancer, but I think cancer is a disease in elderly people and not the method for death. This opinion need to be supported by doing many studies and surveys about that.

I think cancer is a disease as it affects any age, also there is a good response of specific cancer cells for therapy (chemo, radio ...etc) and giving us good results and outcomes either on the research level or clinically even such patients with cancer may completely cure.

Its good idea to start to prof such idea. my concern is about the huge money the society spent about cancer research and treatments without any concert results, just speculations. We need a kind of center which can handle and oriented the research toward whats good for treatments.
Cancer is a group of disease and is one of the major causes of death at global level. regardless of age. Research is justifiable on the basis of a number of issues:
1. To understand the aetiology
2. To help in prevention
3. To improve the outcome of treatment
4. To improve the quality of life of affected persons.

I think age significantly increases the risk of cancer. In elderly people, other lifestyle- associated risks will also accumulate.
