Is the any relationship between grafting percentage and flocculation performance?
I am grafting some polymer which hasconverted the content N element into cassava starch.
I have determined N% by using elemental analysis and found out that the grafting percentage 24% has 1.06% of N, while 2 % of the grafting percentage showed about 1.30% of N.
Do I need to repeat it again, or is there any explanation for this result?
How did you measure the grafting percentage on starch ?
And what do you mean by the N content ? You tried to graft polyacrylamide onto starch by CAN ...
The grafting percentage was determined based on weight after grafting percentage (after homopolymer has been removed).
What I mean by N content is N% which come from the monomer /polymer PolyDADMAC.
Grafting onto starch is always a difficult task to characterize.
For the first experiment, it seems that only 1.06%N for 25% grfating is very low. I should expect, 5 to 10%. Then, for the second experiment with 2% grafting, the precision on the weigh change is low by gravimetry, hence difficult to be sure about your 2% grafting.
Therefore, i will repeat experiments
