May i know the title of ms Witono's PhD- thesis? and did the publication you mention entitled " Improved homopolymer separation to enable the application of (1)H NMR and HPLC for the determination of the reaction parameters of the graft copolymerization of acrylic acid onto starch"?

Judy Witono's Thesis was entitled 'New Materials by grafting of acrylic acid onto Cassava Starch. The article you mention contains a reference to a paper in CH-Polymers about the Experimental Design method to show the effect of reaction parameters. That be more informative related to your question.

I have go through the article and it really interesting and very informative

However there are certain things that i would like to clarify. I hope you don't mind to answering it and share with me

1) Figure 1:- I'm a little bit confusing which one is referring to pH 1.5 and pH 7

2) In my experiment, i didn't use any monomer, so in your opinion should i acidified too?

3) How to calculate molar of starch?

The solid blocks represent pH 1.5, the acid form which stays well in solution. Perhaps, if you do not have an acidic monomer you do not need to acidify before homopolymer separation.

We use the mw of one AGU group = 162 Dalton. Divide the grammes of starches entered by this value and you get the number of AGU groups in your system.
