I have successfully green-synthesized Mn3O4 nanoparticles from watermelon rinds extract. Upon calcination, the hydrophilicity of the green-synthesized nanoparticles becomes poor. With this, I plan to improve hydrophilicity by applying surface modification with polyacrylic acid (PAA) as an added capping agent to my synthesized nanoparticles. I am aware that with green synthesis, the flavonoids and other components of the plant extract are naturally capping the synthesized nanoparticles.

Will it be possible just to add PAA on top of the flavonoids present on the surface that caps the nanoparticles?
