Many critics argue that science is fallible. It has not given us that what we expected of science. Science is a myth and one hand it has solved many problems of humanity but on the other many new problems have emerged. The world is polarised and the rich becoming richer and the poor poorer.
In my opinion, No, science is depend on hypothesis and analysis at finally results and discussion.
Science means "the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment". So, in science study; your are not always effective, their is failing. In my opinion, science is not fallible.
No genuine scientist will claim that science is infallible. A major distinguishing feature of scientific knowledge in comparison to other kinds of knowledge is that it is not static. Scientific knowledge is constantly revised or expanded through the processes of observation and experimentation. Considering these aspect, one can define science as " Science is a body of knowledge attained through repeated observation and experimentation done methodically, which is always amenable to correction, modification, or improvement upon getting better evidences".
Complex question. Let us decompose it. What is science? If we define it broadly as illumination of reality, then who is responsible? So, we can see that science is merely an actuation of humanity. Does that view ring a name? Thomas Kuhn. Therefore, the notion of humanity stepping aside and looking at science is troubling, albeit helpful in specific situations. Those situations are micro. They are moments when we create crusts around us and attempt to view the world. However, the question of this string is broader. Good question, thanks for raising it.
Science changes with time. So there is variation. Especially as old theories get replaced by new ones when we gain more knowledge.
Scientists are human beings and so science can be fallible when a scientist proceeds with a wrong hypothesis or via poor data collection or methodology gets nonsensical results. Scientist may propose a theory and test it and if it fails go on to another theory to explain a certain phenomenon. Crick and Watson did not come up with the double helix model for DNA overnight. It took some level of trial and error to come up with right answer. So just because something is not proved the first time does not negate the scientific approach behind it. These trials lead to learning and finally to very useful theories and observations.
With the use of high techniques, there is always a changes or/and confirmation in science or theories, and we do not know about the future and what they are hiding for us in the field of science, therefore I am saying science is not infallible.
Unlike religious scriptures, scientific knowledge is dynamic, which is constantly revised or expanded through the processes of observation and experimentation. Therefore, one can say that science includes a ‘content’ part and a ‘process’ part of acquiring or improving this content. Scientific knowledge hitherto known to us developed as the content of science. This ‘content’ is what we usually read and learn from science textbooks comprising of descriptions, facts, principles, theories, laws, and their relationships. The ‘content’ of science develops through the ‘process’ of science involving repeated observation and experimentation. This ‘process’ is nothing but research using scientific method. The stipulation of methodical approach to acquire knowledge in science is important because this distinguishes science from other knowledge systems prevalent in the society.
I totally disagree!!! Science can't e the cause of life problems ! Poor and rich both are there in high or lower science-based countries. Perhaps science helps getting better social life.
