I am using NCEP predictors normalized and interpolated with HadCM3 (2.5x3.75 resolution) in SDSM. To downscale MPI-ESM-LR having resolution 1.86x1.875, should I first re-grid NCEP to MPI-ESM-LR AOGCM data to generate future scenario? If yes then the matching of grids of NCEP and MPI-ESM should be done before doing calibration of SDSM?

Using SDSM you will downscale your climate data statistically, but do you like to use climate data which are downscaled dynamically?! If so, I want suggest you CORDEX project data.

I want to statistically downscale MPI ESM AOGCM using SDSM. The issue I am facing right now is I can't find all 26 predictors of NCEP reanalysis on 2.5x2.5 degree to match with MPI ESM GCM's atmospheric variables. If you know the working of SDSM, it requires 26 predictors set of both NCEP and the GCM to be downscaled. Generally, the data available for NCEP is normalised with CANESM 2 model or HadCM 3, regridded to these GCMs to reduce bias. I am not sure if I need to downscale another GCM than the above mentioned two Canadian models, then how to proceed. Kindly guide.

As per my knowledge You can use only the GCM for which the predictors are available as according to NCEP. But if you want to use another GCM then you have to create predictors which may be available as per your choose MPI ESM AOGCM.
