I want to use chromic acid as an oxidizing agent in an organic reaction, but I don't have chromic oxide. I have potassium dichromate and sodium dichromate in large amount though.
So, I started looking for literature for the preparation of chromic acid from potassium/sodium dichromate. I didn't find many concrete literature regarding the topic, most are very vague.
Can anybody direct me to literature that describes preparation of chromic acid from potassium/sodium dichromate? The resulting acid will be used in organic synthesis.

You can prepare chromic acid from mixing solid potassium dichromate or sodium dichromate with concentrated sulfuric acid , then the mixture you can add it to your reaction mixture( also you can prepare it in sit u through adding acid and salt to reaction mixture) . Good luck

The conc. depends on amount used. You can do your calculation and find out how much to use .or look at your experiment procedure how much needs, do your calculation. conc=no. of mol / V. good luck.
