I was looking for an opportunity to use perovskite for food related applications. It may be possible that the mineral comes in direct contact with food and indirectly with humans. I want to know the toxicological implications of perovskite, whether it is safer to use in human contact applications or not?

I have no idea of the toxicity of most perovskites, but I'd like to help you focus your question since it is not well-defined.
Perovskite is a crystal structure of the form ABX3 where A,B are metallic cations (B is typically small) and X is an anion. It is called after the mineral Perovskite (CaTiO3, calcium titanate), but since the mineral is not very common I don't suppose you meant to use it.
In recent years, many people use the term "perovskites" to describe hybrid organic-inorganic materials in the perovskite structure, which gained huge attention due to their promise for cheap solar cells. In these cases B is almost always lead (Pb), which is toxic, A is typically an organic molecule (e.g. methylammonium), and X is a halogen (typically I or Br).
A completely different family of perovskites, which we study in my group, are the perovskite oxides (ABO3), with famous members including SrTiO3, Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT), BaTiO3, the manganites and many others.
Back to your question, the toxicity of each of these materials would be considerably different; I hope I clarified why and I suggest that you focus your question.

But first of all before using perovskites in food application and exposing humans, you need to confirm that it is a lead free perovskites , since lead is really toxic as you must already know.
