Pain science can be considered as public health and has been a grey area without much attention. It is one area critically needed to be studied like how we conduct surveillance to support the process of disease control in public health.
Yes it really seems to be priotized. In fact, Buthan is the only country where happiness factor exist. We can conduct a survey where pain, stress and depression level among individuals can be predicted. It's a good question for research.
Pain Science is not considered as a public health issue. It is considered unde the domain of Anaesthesiology in our set up. Pain is not considered as a priority public health issue as people have considerable tolerance to pain due to cultural programming to accept some amount of pain. It is perceived as a medical issue only when it is unbearable or if it persists over a prolonged period.
Maybe anaesthesia or neurology bit not public health. However, they may first be seen in out-patient clinic, such patients will benefit from referral.
In my opinion, I say yes. Pain science shouldn't be neglected in public health because, it's the science of pain that helps to examine and diagnose patient.
