As LaTeX is a fantastic tool for scientific documentation; there are plenty of TeX editors are around. Some of these editors are online and cloud based such as Overleaf while others are old style offline installation based. I am curious to know if both are equally good when it comes to writing very long documents like a Ph.D. thesis? If not; which type is better for thesis works involving several chapters as separate TeX document?
With Overleaf we get the same LaTeX set-up wherever we go. The upside of using this Overleaf lets us store all necessary files/chapters in the cloud and thus allows us to access our files from every machine wherever we are – just in the spirit of LaTeX.
It is the best text editing online cloud I have ever used and more user friendly also for long documents like thesis work.

Additionally, Overleaf offers the option to collaborate seamlessly even on the very same line of code in the same *.tex file.
Overleaf can flawlessly handle multiple *.tex files (I always put each chapter or section (in a paper) to a separate *.tex file.
Multi folder hierarchy is also not an issue.
Also, any package that I needed (so far) was already included in Overleaf, and does therefore not need any further download like it does for some offline based editors.
In my honest opinion it is also the best cloud based Tex editor out there. It definitely makes my work easier.
