I know the orbital difference between both satellites. But for Chlorophyll a estimation, which is best MODIS TERRA AND MODIS AQUA. Because most of research studies i have come across utilizing MODIS AQUA OVER MODIS TERRA . WHY?
As far as I know, the only significant difference is that MODIS onboard on Aqua provide more recent information. Also, Terra crosses the equatorial line at approximately 10:30am, and Aqua crosses the equatorial line at 1:30pm. Nevertheless the MODIS is the same instrument. Additionally, you can see intercomparisons and an evaluation methodology in this interseting link:
I think It depends on what you mean by "ocean color". Some bands in MODIS-T have degraded in time, and consequently, some derived products are not the best (e.g. Chla) as compared to MODIS-A. Other bands are not that bad so, at the end, it depends on which bands you are interested in.

@Stavros Kolios @Bassil El-Masri @Gonzalo S. Saldías: Thank you all for your inputs. From the information, i understood that MODIS AQUA products are better choice for Chl a estimation compared to MODIS TERRA.
