Excuse me. If any of you is following the German Hodgkin Study Group (GHSG) research work, I would really appreciate it if you can confirm or deny the following statement.
"In recent trials of the German Hodgkin Study Group (GHSG), radiotherapists found that lower torso Stage I/II disease behaved much more like advanced disease, and abandoned primary RT for this presentation. Most studies of combined modality for Stage I/II illness excluded lower torso presentations, and even the most recent German trials exclude lower torso disease from their studies of Stage I/II disease."
I have looked all over the research published by such group and didn't find any statement indicating this.

Thanks for your response. I really appreciate it. I was doing research to study the effect of primary lymph node sites on the survival of Hodgkin lymphoma patients. I was able to publish my research paper, but now I was checking on a previous reviewer comment that was sent to me regarding my manuscript. I was told that lower torso stage I/II disease was looked at as an advanced disease that radiotherapists from the GHSG excluded such patients from their trials. I looked all over the GHSG studies and didn't find a proof for such statement. Thanks for your confirmation Maike de Wit .
Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) with solely sub-diaphragmatic presentation of stage I-II represents according to old series 8-13% of all presentations at diagnosis. While I do not follow the treatment policies of the GHLSG, from what I have read in the published literature, these follow in general treatment approaches applied for all stage I-II (non-bulky), either low- or high-risk, with chemotherapy ABVD vs dose escalated-BEACOPP usually x 2-4 cycles, followed by low-dose involved nodal RT.
Dr. Ebied you may have heard about the HD16 GHSG study, which was a randomized phase III trial, where all patients received 2 cycles of ABVD after which a PET examination was performed. In the standard arm, patients received RT with 20 Gy IF. In the experimental arm, PET (+) patients also received 20 Gy IF radiotherapy, but PET (-) patients were not irradiated. Publication of the results of this trial are awaited.
