The journal “Journal of Physics & Optics Sciences” and the publisher behind it “Scientific Research and Community Ltd” are too new to be included in for example the Beall’s list of potential predatory journals/publishers (https://beallslist.net ). But too many red flags and blunt examples of deceptive and misleading info indicate that something is wrong:
-Take for example the contact info “76 Westwood Road Coventry, Cv56GF West Midlands, UK” (https://www.onlinescientificresearch.com/contact.php ) if one Google this then it renders anything but an office, in others words why hide your place of origin
-Indexing info (https://www.onlinescientificresearch.com/index.php ) is full of meaningless logos and DRJI is an example of a so-called misleading metric (https://beallslist.net/misleading-metrics/ ) often used by predatory journals/publishers
-The prominently PubMed indexed papers is misleading since they ‘abuse’ the fact that papers authored by research that is funded with a NIH grant are automatically indexed in PubMed irrespective of the journal
-Looking at the journal (https://www.onlinescientificresearch.com/journal-of-physics-optics-sciences-home-jpsos.php ) then just look at the enclosed figures with a real SCImago indexed journal for comparison, they misleadingly suggest indexing in SCImago while this journal is not indexed in Scopus
-In relation to this mentioning of CiteScore while not being indexed in Scopus is close to fraud and certainly misleading. The same is true for the impact factor mentioned, they are NOT indexed in Clarivate’s SCIE (or ESCI)
-If you Google their Editor-In-Chief “Ephraim Suhir” you find that he is 86 years old…
In many countries (although not in the USA) grant-funding agencies require publications in journals, which are indexed in either Scopus or Web of Science. These two databases supposedly do a good job at excluding predatory journals, and they update their lists of covered journals annually. You see both lists for free at
