In the synthesis of nanoparticles, a number of researcher use plant extract for reduction of silver salt to nanoparticles. The nature of plant extract is green due to this, it is called green method.
While in order to control the pH of reaction mixture the chemicals, such as, NaOH, HCl etc. are used. So my question is that:
Is it viable to consider it as Green Synthesis?
Green methods for synthesis of nano-structure is bio-compatible than other chemical methods, plant extract having various secondary metabolites, these chemical compound are needed to control various functions in living system in association with nanoparticles.
Of course not, from my point of view “green” is used to mask “ungreen” stuff.
As far as no hazardous material is used or introduced into the environment the method of synthesis can be considered as "Green".
NaOH and HCl are used only to adjust the pH, so it is green synthesis
