If supervision is also guided by the ability to perceive, people that have suprasensitive/spiritual abilities to perceive (e.g. à la medium) will obviously differ in supervision approaches than people that do not have these abilities?
Is supervision guided by the ability to perceive details?
Different scales of perception result in different decision-making rules?
Spiritualism has its roots on firm faith & belief. Any person moving towards the path of spiritualism has his indirect base on the religion which has help religion to enter in the spiritualism .
Spiritualism becomes a way of life under certain discipline & moral code of conduct which may line just help the person to live his life in a moral ,honest ,principle & with this also his living style his own family related & social fabrics creates his behavior & silent mode of approach making the members happy to with whom he is acquainted.
Ideal scientific attitude is a symbolical development of the mind which works under a systematic training of behavior ,principle ,honest mode of living under a very clean & impartial behavior with all the members with whom he has come into contact with his honest mode & integrated approach to make working under a systematic & peaceful manner & for other to make comfortable at his by his approach which he has based on systematic scientific way of his own line .
It is therefore natural that the mind works in similar line just spiritualism & ideal scientific attitude
Scientific attitude is rational whereas spiritualism is intuitive. Both cognitive systems work in analogy and they perhaps influence each other. A spiritual experience is often said to have a strong feature of unity, an intuition that everything is connected with everything that can also be expressed and understood in science.
Think every person has duality in his / her life i.e. spirit (believe, worship & faith in God or not) & soul (cognition & emotion) beside the body. Different people might have different level of spirituality & maturity in soul at different stages of lives can demonstrate different attitudes & behaviors (of course aging body can influence / being influenced by both spirit & soul). Hence, it might not be inversely proportional to each other as some people can be both strong / weak in both spirituality & cognition.
I think we might need to establish some clarity in terminology here. Some answers seem to me to be talking about different things.
I assume that no one means the following. "Spiritualism is a belief that spirits of the dead have both the ability and the inclination to communicate with the living." (Wikipedia)
Some people seem to be equating spiritualism with religious belief - belief in God. Clearly, we do not all share such beliefs and on that definition those of us who do not are excluded from spiritualism.
However, I note that César above uses the word 'spirituality' and states that they 'can exist in peace'.
I wonder if 'spirituality is in fact the word that should have been used in the question.
"Spirituality may refer to almost any kind of meaningful activity, personal growth, or blissful experience.Traditionally, spirituality refers to a process of re-formation of the personality but there is no precise definition of spirituality.(Wikipedia)
Clearly, on such a wide definition we can all exhibit spirituality,so it does not take us very far.
However, if I had been asked before looking these up what I meant by people who exhibit 'spirituality', I would have answered as follows. 'I think of people (religious and non-religious) who seem to have an inner calm, gentleness, and unconditional acceptance of other people and the world. '
Then a spiritual research supervisor would be one who exhibits such characteristics in mentoring the student.
Spiritualism and racionalism two side of human existence. Apparently they are contradictory, but I would say they are complementary. The best example for this is the art which is the best way to understand the wholeness of being human. a) A good spiritual lider like a good supervisor, will console you if you are having a hard time and will criticise you if you if you are not performing by known/accepted forms.
If your question referes to their role both of them are apples and you can compare apples and behave the same. If they do not act like this, then they are not true to their role, some of them do not, they are humans too and may act contrary to spirituality or rationality. In this case your question do not apply as their roles are not inverse opposite, but the same.
b) it is important to know or to keep in mind that the spiritual leader is acting based on theories that can not be refuted by observation or experiment. And the supervisor is dealing with theories that can be refuted by observation or experiment.
So if the If the question refers to their theories, they are inverse opposite.
People respond in a variety of ways to the increased social scientific interest in the relationship between leisure and spirituality: for some religion is the only true spirituality; some compartmentalize or dichotomize spirituality; some believe other relgion's experience spirituality; some believe that spirituality reaches its fullest potential in relationship with God; and some see spirituality as a complex process.
