I wanted to do higher energy ball milling using ethanol to reduce size of graph particles at 300 rpm for 10 hours,is it safe to do milling process, does it cause any explosion, what are the safety measures need to take?
There should be an ethanol vapor exhaust above the grinding area. Then a high concentration of its vapors will not be created. The flash point of alcohol is 135 °C, the ignition temperature is 148 °C. These are already dangerous temperatures.
Circulate coolant during wet milling to efficient heat dissipation and maintain temperature below < 30 deg C. We ran wet milling more than 24 h continuously with methanol as solvent.
as Yuri said, good vapor exhaust should solve the problem. Moreover, try do milling with short brake between the cycles, e.g 45min milling and then 15 min break and repeat to get 10 hours
