Suppose that a model developed in Ansys with boundary condition free-free is validated by free-free experimental results. Is it correct to use the model with fixed boundary conditions and still hope the results will be real?
One of the purposes of using models is indeed for its prediction ability once it has been experimentally validated in a specific case.
What has to be assessed is that the features that have been validated are sufficient for the prediction application.
Speaking about linear structural dynamics, if the dynamic behavior of a component has been validated, its behavior once coupled should be correct.
What has to be assessed in such a case is that the new interface area is properly numerically converged. The level of strains in a free area or in a clamped area are not the same, and would not require the same level of mesh refinement to obtain numerical convergence.
