I am doing research regarding effects of 4 diets on a murine disease model. My finding is diet A has more prominent effect on the disease than diets B, C, D.
Is it possible to perform Dunnett's test and set diet A as the reference group, comparing with other 3 groups?
Is there any reference paper to support Dunnett's test in this scenario?
Since you have a control group you can use Dunnet's test, otherwise you should use Tukey's test.
Dunnet's is suitable to compare two group.also if you have one group and you compare before and after treatment you can use depend t-test
Dunnett's test is a multiple comparison method, advanced by Canadian statistician Charles Dunnett to compare each of a lot of operations with a single control. Numerous comparisons to a control are also referred to as many-to-one comparison. Dunnett’s Test (also called Dunnett’s Method or Dunnett’s Multiple Comparison) compares means from several experimental groups against a control group mean to look at is there is a difference. When an ANOVA test has significant conclusions, it doesn’t tell which pairs of means are different. Dunnett’s can be applied after the ANOVA has been run to select the pairs with significant variations. If you want to compare four dietary treatments with control and identify the groups with significant difference form control you may use this test.
