hi dear masters i want to simulate crack propagation with cohesive zone in a concrete beam by ABAQUS , i want to know is it possible to link MATLAB and ABAQUS ? ,and for which kind of problems we can use MATLAB? is it possible to use MATLAB codes instead of writing subroutin by fortran in ABAQUS?
i'd appreciate your help

If I understood your query well, you can use MATLAB for post processing your simulation results. You can plot the deformed mesh obtained from ABAQUS and superimpose it on your initial mesh to see the changes. You can plot different variables like stress, strain etc. on your mesh in MATLAB and use it further for other results.
That is what I understood for using the output file in MATLAB.
Abaqus2Matlab is a nice toolbox which can do the job. See

You should access the abaqus results (*.fil) file via MATLAB. In order to take your results into a fil file you should specify
*FILE FORMAT, ASCII or *FILE OUTPUT
options (depending on whether you use Abaqus/Standard or Abaqus/Explicit respectively) along with
*EL FILE and/or *NODE FILE
etc. options in your Abaqus input file. After creating the results (*.fil) file, go to section 5.1.2 of the Abaqus Analysis User's Manual to find details about how to read the fil file. You can use this information to read this file using MATLAB.
