The heart contains a reservoir of stem and progenitor cells in niches, which may proliferate and protect damaged heart. I want to know to which extent these cells get activated in an infarcted heart. Nowadays extensive research work is going on in isolating cardiac stem cells from the heart and delivering them on to an infarcted heart. I want to know if cardiac stem cells can be isolated from an infarcted heart? If yes, what will be the percentage difference in availability of CSCs from a normal and from infarcted heart biopsies?
