From what I understand , Nano-tech is possible scale that fixes some of the natural problems . This is the scale on which nature in some domain operates and makes it an easy solution say in storage or control .

Well , nanoscale as I said is proportional to storage density -say in solar panel rather than a detector with some area A , on this scale it can be designed such that the cell area and packaging density increases the energy stored and hence providing more energy during conversion .

Eg: graphene is a 2D material that is giving greater surface area for a cell .

Nanotechnology is in the construction of units on the nanoscale . Super-capacitors are a classic example .

I think yes we can increase power and reduce pollution without the need for Nano-Technology. For example we can apply Enhanced Coagulation for Water Treatment which superior to Coagulation without the need for Nano-Technolog. Best regards.

There are two major ways in which nanotechnology is being used to reduce air pollution: catalysts, which are currently in use and constantly being improved upon; and nano-structured membranes, which are under development.

Catalysts can be used to enable a chemical reaction (which changes one type of molecule to another) at lower temperatures or make the reaction more effective. Nanotechnology can improve the performance and cost of catalysts used to transform vapors escaping from cars or industrial plants into harmless gasses. That's because catalysts made from nanoparticles have a greater surface area to interact with the reacting chemicals than catalysts made from larger particles. The larger surface area allows more chemicals to interact with the catalyst simultaneously, which makes the catalyst more effective.

Nanostructured membranes, on the other hand, are being developed to separate carbon dioxide from industrial plant exhaust streams. The plan is to create a method that can be implemented in any power plant without expensive retrofitting.

Pollution levels that are increasing day by day need better developments or technological discoveries immediately. Nanotechnology offers many advantages to improve existing environmental technologies and create new technology that is better than current technology. In this sense, nanotechnology has three main capabilities that can be applied in the fields of environment, including the cleanup (remediation) and purification, the detection of contaminants (sensing and detection), and the pollution prevention.
