Whatever the scientific and environmental reasons that remain, the theories of the art of falling rain are first and foremost linked to the will of God.
I truly believe the marshland in southern Iraq should be restored first. Desert areas to the west of Euphrates river should be covered with hardy pants to reduce sandstorms. This will be a long-term proposition that may ultimately help Iraq.
Thank you Ali and hope something is done about it. In fact, the greening of Abu Dhabi changed the environment in that area! This is what scientist are suggesting.
The desertification, drought and low rainfall are a direct results of climate change. In Iraq, we live in a warm winter accompanied by a sharp drop in rainfall which has not been seen in years.

Average temperatures in Iraq range from 48 ° C (118.4 ° F) in July and August to below zero in January. Most of the rain occurs between December and April, and averages between 100 and 180 mm (3.9 and 7.1 in) per year. The mountainous region of northern Iraq has a significantly higher rainfall than the central and southern regions.
Approximately 90% of annual rainfall occurs between November and April, especially between December and March. The rest of the months, especially those with high temperatures such as June, and Tews, and the father are rarely rain-free and dry.
With lower levels of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and authorities negligence, the unique lifestyle in the southern marshes is threatened with extinction. Satellite images indicate a continuous decline in marshlands area.
Hopefully, now that Iraq becoming more stable and its relationships with its neighbors more civil, let’s hope they begin discussion with Turkey and Iran to release more water to the two great rivers.
Really the distinct reasons of the low rainfall is unknown , some said that dramatic changes in climate that prevent the formation of heavy cloud may be the cause , others suspected that rainfall decrease in cold months ( winter) and it will started fall in the end of Feb.and begining of march , some thought that rainfall is concern to the will of ALLAH . but i am guess the rainfall will occur in the next few days of this month , its just suspection ,, Best regards ,,, Jawad Ali
Most predictions are not good for Iraq. However, you have two big rivers going through, need to use them as a source of future needs plus deep wells which may provide an extra source.
Michael- iraq has more than water. It has a great history, educated population, and the second largest oil reserve in the world according to some. As to most predictions about the future of Iraq, I remember all these experts telling us that ISIS will not be defeated in our lifetime and that Iraq will be spilt! Well, we now know better. Amir
Programs and plans that rely on socio-economic, environmental and political data should henceforth consider climate change as an important factor in those plans and programs. Iraq's ability to adapt to climate change in the region remains marginal if not zero. However, it is not hopeless to develop the country's capacity to adapt to this unavoidable requirement, but to adopt measures that provide some flexibility in projects to adapt to prevailing climate data. Iraq has enough financial resources to invest in the country's future and to neutralize the negative impact of global warming on the economy, society, natural resources, especially land and water.
Iraq faced enormous challenges to its security and can now begin the process of healing and rebuilding its infrastructure to secure a better future. The new future must bring more focus on its environment.
