I am new to contourlet transformation. I have seen the pyramid structure of contourlets, when applied to an image. My problem is getting one matrix to result in edge detection, so I may be able to get the orientation/theta values as the edge changes in the image.
Is this pssible?
In principle the minor axis - major axis ratio of the countourlet ellipse can give you a theta value with directional properties like that of the Sobel. Check out Minh Do's original paper and his matlab toolbox in the attached links.

I already have the contourlet_toolbox with me and I seeen the demo files provided in the toolbox but the problem with me is, being a new be I am not able to get the idea of getting the edgedetected single matrix of the original image matrix. How do i do that ?
