I have been getting contaminated plates and preps with what seems to be a gram negative bacteria (Acinetobacter pittii according to Blast) that is resistant to Chloramphenicol.
I'm trying to understand where the contamination is coming from, and my main suspects are currently the DNA of plasmids and BACs used for cloning, or the cloning enzymes.
There is no growth in controls without this DNA, though I didn't test the enzymes on their own.
Did anyone have a similar problem? Any ideas of where the contamination is coming from? Any ideas of how to get rid of it?
Thanks in advance.
