How it is possible to find human DNA in man eater tiger, since digestive system has nuclease enzymes? If it is possible then how would you distinguish between human DNA and other animal DNA?
Either there was truly human DNA in the fecal sample due to the animal digesting human tissue, or simply the fecal tissue was contaminated with human DNA by improper handling. I would bet money on the latter.
You would differentiate the two by sequencing. DNA amongst animals and humans is virtually identical except for sequence. The only other way would be to perform PCR of specific genes using oligonucleotides specific for the specific species (human or animal).
Dear Kailash, you can find a lot of DNA in faeces, even after hard digestiv process. Faecal DNA analysis is currently used in molecular ecology. This is not surprising to find human DNA if the tiger have ingested human tissue the last 3 days!
As Adam say, you can identify human DNA by sequencing DNA.
However, it will be very difficult to decipher about the presence of human PCR amplicon, if it result from active predatory event by the tiger or by DNA-contamination. The use of microsatelllites amplification to genotype the DNA allow to identify from who that DNA came from.
