I'm planning to do a particle impact test on a substrate. i know Abaqus as well, but i wanted to give a try in Ansys Explicit Dynamics. is it possible ? because i have done some work in explicit dynamics where the particle pierces over rather deformation and is there any option to specify temperature as boundary condition in explicit dynamics.

Thanks for the response !! My video and your corresponds to kind of shot peening !! I need something like particle deposition as of plas spray/thermal spray.
Since you are dealing with a liquid droplet in plasma-spraying, probably a CFD code might be better. In the past, I have used Flow-3D to simulate droplet impact in plasma spraying.
Thanks for your response martin !! but i'm not doing it in CFD rather planning to do in LS-DYNA since it is more robust in impact/deposition modeling.
