I need to make flat slices of a tumor tissue and I need to keep the tissue alive. I have access to a vibratome and a cryostat. Can anyone tell me which one is better and why?
Is it possible to culture the tissue after being cut by a cryostat?
Go for the vibratome. Most models allow for the setting of amplitud of vibration and fine-tunning of the blade's angle resulting in more gentle cuts improving overall health of the tissue slices.
Thanks everyone. I came to the conclusion of using the vibratome. I am working with animal and human cells which are more sensitive than the bacterial culture. The cryostat may give slices with flat surfaces but it damages the cells.
