I would like to add some data to a SPSS file I want to make public. Is there any option, how to include details about the observations, acronyms etc.?

I think it is quite easy to add the data directly or even you can copy and paste it from another file
or you can use import data
I mean adding meta data, not the observations itself. E.g. information about when where data collected, how was it done, or if I use simple name of the file like CorporatePerformance.sav, just information which of my billion files was it (CorporatePerformanceAfterCleaning5BeforeRecoding8withPaulsChanges.sav).

Perfect! Thank you, Bruce. Works with my SPSS 24 as well. Also, while trying to find option Add document in a menu (I am a simple person, I prefer clicking to writing syntax), I found that the same way works Utilities - Data File Comments.

As noted on the second of those pages, exiting the GUI dialogs via the PASTE button is a good way to get started.

Thanks. I am using syntax, but only occasionally. In this case it seems to me particularly convenient to click twice, write the text and save it, with no need to remember the command. Perhaps it is because I do not use SPSS on daily basis...
