We found significant influence on the catalytic activity of different redox metals after the incorporation of MgO. What I know is the incorporated MgO can brings extensive hydroxyl groups at the surface of catalyst, promote the dispersion of active sites and change the pHzpc of catalysts toward high pH. Based on our experimental data including characterization, we found some evidences of Cu3+ state. But the question how MgO could acheive this. Is there any possible explanation from surface hyroxyl group?
