Is there any possibility does DEN has the ability to induce lung cancer as well as liver cirrhosis? Or is this through metastasis. What would be the time period for the incidence of cancer in lung or in other organs of the animal? Can you provide me with references?
According to some literature ; the rat lung cancers induced by diethylnitrosamine (DEN) are considered to be a good model for illustrating genetic alterations in human lung precancerous and cancerous lesions. There have been reports that resveratrol significantly prevents diethylnitrosamine (DENA)-induced hepatic tumorigenesis by mechanisms such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic effects, and
alteration of hepatic proinflammatory cytokines in rats.
