David very interesting question . Why do you want to remove Zn from the soil before planting a crop . You just want to see the response of crop to Zn deficit or any other purpose , not so clear . Why don't you try out other means like using sand culture , aeroponics , hydroponics etc .
Mr.David,if you decide to strip available plant nutrient pool it is easy. If you desire to strip slow or passive pools it is somewhat difficult. The soil can be leached with a common extractant like DTPA or dilute HCl to remove available Zn.
Dr.Praveen Kumar you are right.The other micronutrients cations will also be removed.I think it is possible to supplement those nutrients at recommended rates.If any selective Zn complexing and removing agent is there,it would be better.
